Collections Meme
So I was thinking this might be kind of fun... I also thought it might reveal some common interests that don't relate to anime/manga - so please don't list anime/manga-related collections!
What sorts of things do you collect/did you collect at one point in time?
Used to:
+ Keys - I actually have a ton of old car keys my grandpa gave me (and some others) when I was a little kid and fascinated with them. It disturbs me because I used to put keys in my mouth... eck. They're still pretty... I have a charm bracelet with just keys, although this was inspired by a certain videogame.
+ Stamps - I gave up on these a long, long time ago ^^; But at one point I was really interested in them.
+ Beanie Babies - who didn't? Who?
+ Cat's Meow - I only have two. One's the Pocahontas statue and one's a Carousel. Ties in with my other interests.
+ Porcelain Dolls - Not so much my choice. I was given a lot of them, but my mom and I took classes way back, so one of mine I actually made myself. ^^; Snowbabies go here too.
Still do:
+ Shadowbox miniatures - the little teeny animal figures they have in most giftshops and hobby shops. I always liked the glazed ones, but their designs are somewhat limited. I also have a dollhouse, so I used to collect small items for it. Also - carousel horse figurines. I have a few.
+ Gemstones/rocks - I actually have a pretty nice collection (they all fit in one container...), and my interest in rocks/minerals was sparked again when I took jewelry/metalworking in college. I really wish I had figured something to make with the Mexican fire opal (in a matrix) I bought. It's pretty awesome but very tiny. And I still have this strange gravel I found in my driveway ages ago. It looks like it has pirite growing on it. I wish I had gotten this confirmed during college... uguu... =_= Well it's gravel/gold-colored mineral. =P
+ Plush foxes (and plush tigers) - I think this is rather obvious. ^^; I collect anything with foxes, really. I used to collect plush bunnies as a child (as opposed to teddybears or dolls). So I have a fair amount of bunny and unicorn items as well. Unicorns and I have a history.
+ Trading Cards - I didn't collect these so much until I got into anime, so I won't mention them here. But I have some from other things I was into - Beanie Babies, Disney, etc.
+ Seashells - Not so much now, but we look for them every year at the beach. I'll usually pick up a few if they're unique or interesting.
+ Fortune Cookie Fortunes - YES, I SAVE THESE(!). Even if the fortune wasn't mine. Why? I dunno.
I think that's all the major collections I have while avoiding anime/manga/game stuff. ^^;

I didn't really collect them, per se, but I do have a collection of them. Haha. ^^;
And what are you talking about? Bracelets and foreign currency are interesting. I remember we once wrote to soldiers stationed around the world, and the one who got my letter was actually in JAPAN. And he sent me a yen piece and I had it on my backpack but it somehow came off/was stolen. I was really upset at the time. And I've never had a single yen since then. =/

Aww. Well, there's always the foreign currency exchange office, though I'm not sure where you could find one near you. There's one at a bunch of airports, but I think it's more meaningful to get them as gifts or when you actually visit the country.
