ellana | In Progress Arts

I apologize but I'll be blunt. So far I'm keeping to my New Year's Resolution. ...I think.

I pretty much abandoned DeviantArt, so that means I'm going to spam this journal with "in progress" art. But I'll LJ-cut them.

I am famous for taking these "in progress" photos of half-done stuff and my lovely purple carpet. Anyway, this month I think I'll try to figure out where I stand, get my bearings and whatnot, and then each month this year I'll work on something else - environments or coloring styles or anatomy, etc.

So far it seems like I'm managing to pick up where I left off a year ago. Believe me when I say I am not really trying very hard at the moment... to get anatomy and foreshortening and stuff to work right. :/ That comes later. I will also probably be fixing up/finishing art that I already had started a year(+) ago. Anyway, figured I'd start off with fanart of characters I know pretty well then move into original art again.

Perky pink-haired characters (Mew Ichigo, anyone?) are fairly easy to pull off, so this turned into Meer. I tried to mimic the SEED eyelashes, but otherwise I didn't try to follow any style in particular. I gave up on the foreshortening in her middle area. Er. She was supposed to be kinda leaning forward there. I was going to throw one of her arms back or something but, meh, lazy self is lazy. *bricked* Started coloring it, though, so it's starting to look halfway decent I think. I need to go back to the straight shine in the hair rather than this sketchy/jagged variety because it kind of clashes with the coloring. My light purple marker's kind of dead, too. I need to make a list and sort my markers by which ones are dried up and which ones are fresh and try to get new ones. I'm thinking of trying to put a bunch of screens with the red Haro behind her to look tech-y/stage-ish (with the computer), but IDK.

I want to draw some Tales fanart since "Wings of an Angel" is calling for fanart for their January 24th release thing, due in by the 20th. I'm not sure who to draw yet for that. Suggestions? But anyway, I did a quick sketch of Anise using my one coin figure for reference to make up for the really ugly sketch I tried to draw back in Nov/Dec last year that I gave up on. Might add Arietta or Ion or Luke, or some combination thereof in the background. I didn't put much thought into this either. Just playing around at this point. Tokunaga got kinda shoved to the bottom... *wince*
