Bookstore report part 256?

Yes, right. I went in for Shugo Chara! volume 6 which came out at the end of last month. Right? Right.
..
....
...... And doggonit Skip Beat! 18 was out and there was only one copy and my brain was going "OMGGETITGETITNAO!!". XD I think I literally swooped down and grabbed it. The guy reading manga in the T-Z section probably noticed without me complaining "Why do they all always come out at the same time?". I only regret that I got so amused I was snerking in the car and felt the need to explain to my mom how... erm... "dramatic" Kyoko is. Not that she cares, but when I randomly laugh at what I'm reading, I feel strange. Like I need to explain it.

So, yes! It was a lovely volume, and it gave me a whole monologue about Ren. Not that I can use much of it to help my roleplaying, but it did shed a teeny bit of light on his overly mysterious self. And I love how Kyoko was drawn in her role. You could totally see the resemblance to who she was using as her inspiration for the role. And it was kind of scary. But in a good way! (Also: "Tsuruga-ism"?)

As for the other book I'm reading, "When the Gods are Silent" is an older book by Jane Lindskold (author of the Firekeeper Saga I truly love and would recommend to any fantasy/"she-talks-to-animals" fans). I must say it's not as good as I had hoped, and I'm not sure she (Lindskold) should write books under 600 pages. Well, it's got a good premise, but it feels like I'm reading a synopsis. They're on a journey and keep going from town to town, but they never stay anywhere for more than a few pages. Long enough to name the town, describe its commerce and politics, have Bryax and Rabble both fight something and get drunk and then move on. I can see a lot of parallels to Firekeeper, though. Rabble, like Firekeeper, seems to have a connection to her animals, though not as strong, they both get seasick, they're both strong female leads that are practically untameable... also some of the ideas are the same: magic disappearing, references to dieties, animals that almost act human, and that detail the author has for describing the different sorts of cultures she creates. One sounded suspiciously like the New Kelvinese. A little. It was only a phrase on a page, however.

Otherwise, I've basically been roleplaying. Too much A lot at Memento Eden. Not so much at Ad Libitum. Well, at Ad Lib I feel the need to always reply with paragraphs because Katana and CryptGirl always leave me nice long replies. I promise I'll get to it! I'll get back to Yuan and his crankyness. D=

But back to Memento Eden. I'll just apologize now for trying to be humorous. Haaa...

And... it still frightens me that people keep doing the "Lllloydddd~" thing. Four times. Fangirls.

I.... didn't do it on purpose. REALLY.
Because normally I hate crack and I hate cross-overs, but, when I discovered my Mew Mew figures also have ball joints in their necks... yeah.

Oh, and Nadeshiko only took a few minutes to put together because I finally realized the heads just pop on. Utau's just really difficult to take apart/put together for some reason.

Ichigo looks so cute in black. Eee.

Now hurry up and make Rima, Kairi, Kukai, Nagihiko, and Amulet Spade figurines.
Ikuto would be dreamy too. Bah.

And on the figurine note, ANN's having a fanart contest for a Hatsune Miku. I am so there. She's really pretty.

And a better shot of Utau. Nana and Nana back to back.
(Note: Nana Mizuki voices both Utau and Colette)

Yeah, plenty of crap has happened, (traffic light breaking and me having a nerve-wracking time getting home, saw a cat at work, evil centipedes on the ceiling, the usual blahness, voice acting, drawing, much reading and anime watching) but nothing life-changing, so I don't feel like ranting about it. I really don't know.

Apparently we unknowingly adopted the deer herd, though. They are sleeping in our yard at night (as in laying down on their legs and chilling in plain view).

I'm so darn restless. I need something fun (and something that will not cause trouble) for me to do.

Maybe I should work on my Elishou AU! fic some more since I have people interested now. ^^;

I stayed up late watching Shugo Chara! and Earl and Fairy. Sir Edgar is so... beautifully dangerous. Lydia is an idiot for falling for his tricks. But... this is Hikaru Midorikawa we're talking about. He pulls off the gentleman and he pulls off the villain. So well! Eesh. What he doesn't pull off well... is the ending song. ^^; Lydia is played by Nana Mizuki (Fate (Nanoha), Colette (Tales of Symphonia), Utau (Shugo Chara!) and about a million other female leads). I love her.

Went to see Mamma Mia! with my mom today. It was a bit too rambunctious and squealy for my tastes, but I love Abba's songs. And the idea isn't bad... a girl trying to figure out who her dad is. It's just the female characters are so rowdy and loud and ridiculous. o.o" (I mean, come on, one of the women stuck something between her legs and was impersonating a guy. That was too much for me. I was embarrassed for her.) The girl playing Sophie was very pretty, though. My mom really enjoyed it, apparently, although she didn't say much about it other than it was "entertaining, a little cheesy, and definitely a chick flick". I described it as (and no offense, because I like what I compared it to) "A bad Bollywood movie with good music."

And in keeping up with Kitchen Princess... today's picture. I read it already - it was short. Daichi is love. He needs to hurry and confess. And yes, those are Oddish and Kyuubimon. My love for foxes extends into Digimon. Vulpix is actually on the other side of my bed with Gatomon/Tailmon.

Star Player has been approved. I REALLY need to fix up the layout better, but if you are a fan of Kukai from Shugo Chara!, please join. :D

STAR PLAYER

I'm still doing about the same. I have today to myself to record and work on my website(s) and whatnot. I keep telling my mom a lot of things are troubling me, but she just tells me to not worry about stuff, but I can't really help it. One of my more predominant worries are my feet (my nails) which look horrific.

Cut for those who might get squeamish. )

As for my anime list, both CLANNAD and Shugo Chara! are playing filler, which I do not like, although I feel slightly bad for mixing up part of the plot from the preview. The idea of forcing people to chara-transform isn't too bad of a tactic, but I wish they'd focus on the main/supporting cast as opposed to one-episoders and background characters. Really, Nagihiko will probably be what saves the beginning of this season. (If he ever shows up.)

Vampire Knight is staying interesting, and ef - a tale of melodies has finally started to crack through its confusing and cryptic atmosphere and I can once again say that I adore that series to death, with it's artsy presentation and often dreamlike story-telling. For example, Kuze seems as if he might have split personalities or have a bad prescription of medicine, so sometimes when he goes deep into thought or falls asleep he sees two copies of himself against a colorful inner-clock background. Each copy has half a mask. His image is centered around masks. On the other hand, when Yu is remembering his past, the series puts a border around those scenes as if it were a story book. Sunsetscapes are predominant, and the show will often cut away to images of other things, are switch art styles without explanation. It makes the show an acquired taste, since not a whole lot often happens, but for people who enjoy art or the surreal, or just looking at something beautiful, it does an interesting job of it.

Ah, I'll take the time to bother listing the pairings and characters I like? If I get the names wrong... too bad.

Characters (descending): Kukai, Utau, Yoru, Kairi, Rima, Nagihiko, (and... that 2-ep character with the tiger who was looking for wives, he was cool and had an oyako thing going XD)
Pairings (yes, like): Amu x Kukai (friendship or more, I just like them D=), Amu x Ikuto (the last episode of S1 won me over), Yukari Sanjo x Yuu Nikaidou, Amu x Nagihiko, Ran x Daichi, Miki x Kiseki
Pairings (somewhat, mostly just curious if they'll go anywhere): Amu x Kairi, Rima x Tadase, Kukai x Utau (I heard someone mention this although I don't see it, but it would be alright I guess), Kairi x Yaya (eh... eh... I don't know. =-=), Suu x Nikaidou (friendship, kk? It's so cute XDDD)

Don't let me go shopping anymore! @-@

Well, first we went to the art show. Some of the work was really awesome and it really made me want to try experimenting with my camera and finish some paintings I had started. I want to paint landscapes/animals again. ^^;;

Then we ate Arbys. Yay~ --man, why do the neighbors have to ride a 4-wheeler through the woods every single afternoon? It's so distracting. I hate it. People mow at the worst times, too. At least the deer aren't scared of it. Lawl.

Then we went to the used bookstore. Looked around and finally found a small stack of manga. (Lawl they had TMM 4). Anyway, they were only $1.50 each! Ahh! So I grabbed the ones I was interested in - they had Dream Saga 2 & 3 (never bought them and now you can't find them), Cyber Idol Mink 1 (I've been wanting to read this for a while thanks to Satou-chan) and Card Captor Sakura 6 (I don't have any CCS manga anymore, but they're the nice versions with the color art and it's the end/SyaoranxSakura confession~ *heart*).

Then we went to Barnes & Noble where I was determined to snatch up Shugo Chara! 4 once and for all. I also got S.A. 1.

THEN we went to Big Lots and... they had some anime. First I saw an Angel Tales boxset... I do not know much about the series (I didn't get it), but then I saw the Galaxy Angel box set behind it for $10. It's special edition and has two mini clear boards and five mini figures and some pamphlets. So I slink over to my mom and I'm like "Look what I found...? =D" Well, I paid for my stuff. ^^; The only thing my mom bought me was I wanted a tear-off calendar for my desk for next year and I saw one advertized as "cute/adorable!!" with all these baby animal pictures and it was the last one. Come on, how can you resist a little baby red panda? So I asked her to get it for me for Christmas. ^^; I think staring at cute animals each day would put a smile on my face. ^^; I love cute things, okay? Who doesn't?

So that's my shopping excursion. e-e; Well, they were mostly bargains, so I spent like $40 in the end which isn't terrible... For six books and a boxset? Granted two of the books look like they've been sitting in a basement for a while, but still, that's doing okay, right? And I'm helping the economy!! (Not really but I can dream. ^^;)

Now to clean and paint. =D!
ellana: (Dancing Queen)
So I was "sick" again this morning until lunch. I didn't have Chinese food this time, so I'm not sure why I felt so bad, but it was pretty horrible. I almost asked to leave.

Well, there was not much to do, but I got my main real estate page done as much as I possibly could. I/we left early every day this week... eeh. e-e;

My sticker/stationery furoku came but nothing else has. e-e; And this I ordered most recently. Anyway, the stationery is too cute. The envelope and pages are styled like teabags/teabag packaging. It's supposed to be "Extra Quality Sweet Strawberry Tea". Lawl, go figure. I know we joke about strawberry cake, but apparently Ichigo actually makes strawberry tea. Let's all get our facts straight from now on. /joke

Tomorrow I'm going to an art show with my mom and to another used bookstore. Maybe I can finish "I, Coriander" tonight so I can start "Singer" over the weekend. I also need to record this weekend. Ran, Miwa, Masha... lots of screeching. Yeah.
ellana: (Default)
Wow... just... wow... and it took no less than 29 days to find this out, too...

"Your shipment was returned to us yesterday, due to a mis-sort by the
carrier. The items on your order were in damaged condition in the returned
package. We placed an order for brand new replacements for you, and the
replacements are currently on back-order with the publisher. Do you wish
to keep these items on back-order, cancel the order and receive a refund,
or cancel the back-order and order other items?

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you."

My soul cries for you, Kukai.
And the sad thing is I could have gotten it [Shugo Chara! volume 4] at the bookstore any of the past three weekends because we went there every time... Bwah. No more buying manga online if they have them at the local store, even if it costs less online...

I just hope Utau survived hurricane Ike...
