In which I blah blah about doujin. I guess I should be doing this on [livejournal.com profile] selenaria but this is a little more comfy for me. If you don't care, skip the cut. XD

In other news, no I'm not dead? I've been (slowly) working on art stuffs. I've also been busy at work because it's the holidays. It's not really fair because I work super hard for three days to get everything done...to have one day off which I'll spend half of driving to/from and sitting around. Oh well. At least there will be turkey and at least work Friday should be super slow (although that's not necessarily a good thing either).
ellana: (Luke)
So I indulged myself a while back when I was selling some anime merchandise that was just collecting dust and bought myself another PVC figure (which will... also collect dust), and so, yes, flist, I'm going to spam you with pics. She made it to my doorstep right before this big winter storm (the one we're currently having) started dumping snow on us, so... the princess knows how to make an entrance(?). Her box also attacked me. Yes, I'm talking about Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. *catches breath from long name*

And doubtless tomorrow I will be posting SNOW!pics.

Cut for anime figure images, so image-heavy obviously. )

Anyway, about the snow. It was supposed to start at noon but didn't begin until 3 PM. But it hasn't stopped. I haven't checked it recently, but my dad keeps WORRYING about it and saying that he won't be able to sleep because he'll be checking on it. I mean, seriously, there's nothing you can do. The family thing (which he wouldn't have gone to anyway) was canceled already. We're all off. Relax, dude! Not really looking forward to cleaning and having to listen to them talk talk talk all day, but.

Dad took me to work this morning and mom brought me home. It was sticking to the road by then and was covering the cars in the parking lot. We didn't even get up to 30 MPH along the way. So yeah, looks like it really is turning out to be something. Everyone left work early who could. Brooke even told me to leave before she was able to, but I had to wait anyway because I didn't have transportation. Really glad I didn't have to drive in that mess.

Let's try to summarize what's been up, although this will likely be mostly a fandom post.

My hands still hurt because I suck and can't leave the computer alone. I want to write. I want to interact with people. I can only take so much reading and watching TV. I get bored watching TV for too long, even if it's something I like. However, because of this I have finished reading "Piratica" and I'm also about halfway through Gundam Seed Destiny (episode 24, I think?) and have plans to rewatch Fushigi Yuugi after that. I will probably read "Piratica II" during my vacation if I can, because the pages are jagged and it'd be difficult to flip during lunch at work.

Piratica... Piratica never takes itself entirely seriously, does it? There are lots of coincidences, lots of plot twists I predicted, but looking beyond its flaws, it was enjoyable in being amusing. Fun. Not the greatest book ever, but good for a chuckle.

It's also giving me a little bit of insight for Sky Tides, which I'm pretty excited about. And I ended up dropping Permanent Way. I hadn't done much at all but I still lament losing the Vesperia cast. Drops are harder than apps. But on the bright side I think I'm doing a liiitle bit better with Ad Libitum, and I might app someone else at Memento Eden. Probably either Tasuki or Nuriko unless someone else wants to app one of them? Tasuki's actually my favorite, but Nuriko (I actually have a wall scroll of him that overlooks my computer desk XD) would be nice because he has a different character type. I keep drawing similarities between Tasuki and Lloyd and I'd rather keep all my characters as different as possible. I've run into this problem at Ad Libitum with Tear and Kratos, because they both revert back to "srs bsns". Although, on the flip side, switching back and forth between characters that are vastly different gives me whiplash. XD

Oh well, we'll rewatch the show and see who I can relate to the most, I guess.

Cut for rambling about doujinshi. You can skip all this. )

Work this week was not bad at all compared to last week where I nearly killed myself. Thanksgiving was just me and mom, but the food was good. Turkey, dressing, gravy, green beans, yeast rolls, creamed potatoes, tea, Boston cream pie. Works for me. ;^;

And it's really weird only having one fish now... Like it used to be a bit of a pain to clean out two fishbowls at once, but now there's only one. And it looks like the other side of the shelf needs something. Circadia seems to be a little more active these days, too. He was always the healthier fish, but it's nice to see him being all swimmy-swimmy.

Late, but, happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] skittlestemple! I'll send you something but it will probably be really late, because I don't know what to send you besides the one small thing I have already. I don't know. But I will think of something awesome!

ANN posted info on the Abyss fan disc that's coming out in December. I think I must be slow finding stuff like this out, but apparently it's going to have a chibi skit with "Doctor Jade" and another with Tear cosplaying as a maid. ...Yay!

On that same note, I also found another song sung by Yukana. *pumps fist* It's pretty catchy, but I still can't find her other albums/singles that aren't anime/game-related. I used to be really good at finding obscure music on the interwebs, but it's getting harder and harder to find music (with good reason, really) without paying for it and/or searching through stuff like iTunes. It also makes it near impossible to find said obscure music that no one has heard of.

Work is slow. I'm not sure if I should be happy about that or not. I totally worked out my AU!plot through episode 39 at work. Uh... um. I should not have that much free time. Really. Also, Cantabile totally has an actual role in my AU. Rejoice.

Nooo...

Chapter 147... It was...

...far too short! Ren, you scare me. Really. To think he would say something like that... and to think his "first kiss" turned out like that.

In other news Tear has abandoned us. No, no... I mean she snuck off in the game. I swear everyone is so OBVIOUSLY SUSPICIOUS. All the time. And I got through my least favorite places some more, although I'll be back no doubt, those being Meggiora Highlands and Daath Cathedral. I *HATE* Daath Cathedral. It's too big. Too long. Too confusing. I also have confirmed that I suck playing as Jade and Anise. I can fight okay as anyone else... just not them. D: Especially Anise.

So, IRL segment...

How embarrassing. So I had people bullying me into taking my birthday off. XDDD It was kind of funny when you think about it. Instead I took off Friday, so I'll have only a 3 day week, and I'll be around for real estate and the dumb Ladies Night Out gang page Valerie has me doing. This actually works out better for everybody, and it works out way better for me, too. I won't have to do three days worth of real estate in one day this way.

I also asked for two days in December off because my parents want to go to Virginia Beach to see the Christmas lights. I think it'll be fun.

But man work gave me a headache today. Oh well, three day weekend! Bonzai!
ellana: (Kairi)
They're working me to death on the stupid Riverfest gang page. Agh! D: Also we're switching paper sizes this weekend so it's a huge headache figuring out what the new sizes are. I have a sheet with the listings, though, so it helps.

Fail!Logic: Charge more for the paper, yet take an inch off each side. I'm sure customers will be happy about that. Also, I already have some real estate listings at 4.5 pt font. Um... if I go any smaller, you won't be able to read it.

So I looked up the Baltimore Inner Harbor and the Aquarium. They supposedly have Golden Lion Tamarins! ;; And a FOUR STORY MALL...? I've never seen a mall that was more than like... two stories before. I think. I wouldn't know what to do with one bigger than that... And they have a science museum and an art museum ;; I know we won't have time for another museum but, but--! Eee planetarium. I've never actually been in a planetarium, even though my college had one. That's really sad, self...

Anyway, Baltimore looks like a really pretty place. Yes.

...holy moly ravioli I just realized Baltimore's where Hairspray "took place". XD Maybe when I get there I should break out into song... "Good morning Baltimoreee~~! Every day's like an open doorrr~". Man I am slow. I blame the cold. Okay? Good.

It's only (only?) about a four hour drive, so I figure if I charge my iPod and bring a book or two along, I'll be perfectly content. Might search for a few new songs to put on it, though, so I won't be listening to the same things as always.

Speaking of listening, I did write up a terrible summary for Special Fon Disc 6. (Someone let me know if anyone ever uploads #5?) Excuse any errors. Not only do I NOT know Japanese, but I've been sick and lately my motivation/creativity level has plummeted to zero. In other words I'm just kinda like "blah". But you can still get the basic idea. Maybe.

My favorite is still #4... Because I am a horrible person who is amused by Tear wimping out over ghosts and unleashing her killer death grip.

Special Fon Disc 6: The Amateur's Summary )

Also, last night I found a really nice Tales of (Symphonia, Dawn of the New World, Abyss, Vesperia) AMV. The spoilers are listed as "extreme", but... uh, most of it you wouldn't really understand very well unless you've played the games or stopped and really analyzed the AMV. I think. I'll share anyway and you can watch at your own risk. I really like the captions and there are some nice masking effects. At one point there's a transition between Yuan and Jade both summoning their weapons that looks really cool. It gets really interesting in the middle/end, I think. Here's the link.

Also, Reala has me intrigued now. What are the chances of me obtaining ToD2 or finding detailed information on the game? Hrm.
ellana: (Kairi)
*headdesk* Do not want... drama.

I have no place to say this, since I am quite honestly selectively nice and selectively mean, and just plain selective, and half the time I am completely unpleasant to be around, but... please don't talk about me behind me back. Yes, I will probably be unhappy if I am cornered, but I would much rather people face me directly than to wonder what's up with me in groups and... stuff. That I eventually find out about or am told about by one of said people.

IDK... I am a paranoid person, and being like that just makes me even more paranoid.

But I'm not mad at anybody. I have pretty much been skimping out on you guys. But it's not even just you guys, and it's nothing against any of you personally either. I've also been skimping on my own website, my art... and some other people. I think I must randomly choose to push people aside to 'save myself', and I'm really sorry. I'm not above admitting that I screw up. Frequently.

On the bright side, I actually got to talk with a certain someone for more than two minutes... Not sure if I really helped, but maybe that's progress? Ne, ne, even if I didn't make you feel any better, wasn't it kind of nice sorta-kinda to have a conversation again? Only a few more weeks. Geez...

I'm not sure how work's gonna go down this week. We were short-handed today. Not looking forward to it, really.
ellana: (WTC? D=)
If you want my answers, just go stalk Ari's ([livejournal.com profile] arivess) journal.

IF YOU'RE ON MY FRIENDS LIST, answer these 28 questions and apparently we will be super duper friends after it's over. Or something like that.

So apparently when I am swamped with work and stressed out, I start laughing and can't stop. I was told to put my foot down, that that is why they come to me (because I do work w/o complaining too much). I did. But they still gave me work...!! Am I not delinquent enough for you? Am I too cute/short/whatever to strike fear in your hearts? XDD Dangit people!! Stooooop giving me soooo much work at one tiiiiiiiime. D= *keysmashes* You think I don't complain? I totally complain! Just not to YOUR FACE. D=

In other news... there's not much news.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PLUM!

(aka: [livejournal.com profile] thumbs, I'm an hour early but I want to be close-to-first. Ffff! D: )

I guess I owe a real life post.

WORK:
Work went through an evil phase of me doing a bunch of involved things that I really shouldn't have to do (it's not really my job to do them, and it's the customer/sales reps jobs to get us what we need to make ads look satisfactory, IMHO, but they don't). The sales reps keep giving me the "oh, but you do it so well~" cop-out and I have realized the short answer: I'm the one that will go above and beyond the call of duty. I'm the perfectionist. I'm the one who will struggle through an ad, rebuild from scratch if necessary, etc, etc... when everyone else puts a foot down and goes "Heck no, I ain't doing that!". Last week I rebuilt three jewelry wrappers (large pages separate from the rest of the paper that are bundled around the paper). This week I rebuilt a car ad with SIXTY-FREAKING-FIVE cars in it. And they had to be in price order on each row. And the boxes switch between black and white, so I had to change the colors back around on quite a few of the objects. I also had to open up all sixty-or-so pictures and convert them all to .tif, CMYK, 300dpi. WHAT. FUN~! [/sarcasm]. So, yeah. Basically I am the little "sweet" (not!) perfectionist who will get your ad done as nicely as humanly possible. Do I get thanks for it? No, not really... [sigh] But on the bright side, larger ads cost like THOUSANDS of dollars, and lots of people see them, so even though nobody knows I made them, I at least have an audience and at least the customers are pleased sometimes. And occasionally I hear about how pleased they were. I guess my employers can't complain too much.

STORMS:
The storm last night? It was actually pretty severe. Rain dumped on us in torrents from like 10-something for the next hour straight. It lightning/thundered pretty bad and didn't end until 1 or 2 AM at which point my dad sawing logs in his sleep woke me up. Seriously it got really bad as soon as I logged off. But no, I didn't hide in a closet like Haruhi. Although I did lay down on my floor with a book until it calmed down a bit.

BOOKS:
So, book talk. I finished the Jane Lindskold book I was reading which turned out to be pretty good, if still feeling too much like a summary of a book. Interesting plot twists near the end. One was obvious, the other not-so-much, but it's pretty common as far as plot twists go.

The book I'm starting now I've had for a while and got as a Bargain Book at Books-a-Million. It's part of a series (one of the later/last books and completely readable on its own, although now I'm kinda interesting in reading the others). Anyway, the interesting thing about "Singer in the Snow" is that it has a lot of things that coincidentally remind me of Tales of the Abyss. Pfft! I'm not kidding, okay?

So they have these people called Singers/Cantors/Cantrixes who sing/use an instrument (filla/filhata) to create music. This music then creates light/heat and can be used to perform magic (healing/calming/light stuff mostly). I don't know, but this reminded me a lot of Abyss' Melodists (for the uninitiated: Tear Grants is one) and the whole fonon/fonic hymns thing. The Oracle Knights in Abyss also have ranks that are ranks in the system in this book (which are music terms)... ie. Maestro/Maestra and Cantor. The other coincidence? There's a character named Luke. XDD Only this one is a stable hand and basically a normal person whereas the Abyss one is a noble. Maybe I'm just easily amused, but either way, I find the music/magic relationship cool, and the book is quite good so far.

TALES OF THE ABYSS/ROLEPLAYING:
Before I get off the Abyss topic, I know some people on my Flist here follow the Abyss manga... Do any of you know if there have been chapters with Tear flashbacks yet? I'm still looking for a few more younger!Tear images for a roleplaying event over on [livejournal.com profile] memento_eden, although I broke down and got a paid account/extension for her and have like 93 icons. Well, I kept switching icons out and realized I had made about 50 out of anime caps, so I went ahead and got paid for the next two months.

VACATION/MORE TALES:
Well, one week until my Niagara Falls trip! I'm really excited! Although I think it's a shame that most of the time will be spent riding in a bus to Canada. Only one day actually there. (I'll be gone next Saturday thru Monday.) I went by Gamestop last weekend and was going to get the first Star Ocean game for my PSP, but then I decided to ask if they had a used copy of Tales of Phantasia... and they did! So I got it for like $8. =D Only thing is it's hard going back to piddly little Gameboy games and a really sloooow battle system. But I love what I've seen of the characters so far, so I think it'll be all right. I still plan to get that Arche figure eventually, but not until after I get back. I also need to finish off the Abyss trading figures... >_>;; Poor Guy's surrounded by women.

ROLEPLAYING:
Still roleplay-related. I have decided I should research the other canons of characters I roleplay with that I don't know (and luckily I know some of them already). Like today I watched a fan anime project for Touhou Project to get a better feel for Aya and Reimu (since I have interacted with both of them), and my mind's vision was completely off. I had watched an episode of Soul Eater like a month ago and I realized I was a little misguided there, too. So I'd like to experiment with watching some of the other canons so I can read everyone's posts correctly and with a little extra insight. You know when you read a book and you get a vision of a character that's completely different from a movie version of the character, and sometimes completely different even from the book's description of the character? It's like that. Like in Firekeeper I never imagined Sir Jared ("Doc") looking as he is described. In my brain his hair is not black (I believe I read a few books ago that it was black anyway x-x). And I don't like beards, so I imagine characters without beards even when they supposedly have them. Stuff like that. Seriously. Give me a canon to check out if you want.

Still roleplay-related. Five-year-old Tear and three-year-old Lloyd at once... I still say I'm crazy for that one. But at least I'll be crazy all at once and not have to go back and forth between serious and moe!/kiddie. I'm... I'm looking forward to playing the moeblob. OMG. You have no idea.

So yeah, I'll end this essay...
....
....

MEME:
And I'll steal this from [livejournal.com profile] regalblaze while I'm at it.

Ask me a question about my roleplaying characters in context of the game. It can be any question, about relationships, history, plans, what they're doing right now, romance, what they want to do, their favorite comfort foods, anything. It just has to be about the character in game context. I will do my best to answer the question in as much detail as possible.

(Tear Grants, Lloyd Irving and Ren Tsuruga in Memento Eden; Anyone I have played in Kokoro; Yuan, Martel, Lloyd and Tear in Ad Libitum.)
ellana: (Dancing Queen)
Agh. I am so ronery it is killing me. =_=
I have no right to say so, however, since I don't talk much when I actually have someone willing to talk to me. I'm like a cat, I guess. Meagan called me a cat. (She was a wolf. It worked.)

So I got to work. Same old, same old.

My mom sent me flowers (I had joked about her doing that for my birthday) at work and gave me an embarassing card. I think the flowers were paid more mind than I have in the three months I have been down there. It wasn't until AFTER they were delivered that people even asked me about my birthday. I wore my necklace to work, too.

The strawberries are a pillowcase my mom made for me during college. I have another one with kitties on it and some with geishas. My mom is very talented with a sewing machine. =3

As for work at work, it was dead today. Very, very dead. I think I know most everything going on in the world that interests me. Oh, and by the way, gray wolves in the Northern Rockies are going back to endangered status a mere seven months after they were removed from the list.

Got home and found Arcia's letter and entry for my Ichigo contest and my DVD from SMJ, so I got to watch episode 36 in Japanese, on an official Japanese DVD. It was kinda cool. But I liked the letter better. =D

And I will be writing you back as soon as I can. Isn't the envelope adorable? ^^

The case was cracked so I switched it into another case, but the DVD itself was new and sealed. For anyone curious, vol. 6 has episodes 31-36 and no extras to speak of except for really nice printing on the package art. Oh, and there's an insert with prices and release dates for DVDs and CDs, but that's about it. The menu's pretty basic as well, and when you select a specific episode from the main menu, the clip will play in the sub menu, otherwise it's a still image. In the case of episode 36, the still image is Ryou's showerhead and the clip is of Ryou taking a shower and Keiichiro talking with Ichigo about Ryou's "style".

Main menu

I've also been working on researching for my TMM prequel (aka my Shirogane-tachi AU), and I even got my mom to help. I am trying to find a good song for each year and each chapter will represent a year starting from Professor Shirogane (still Jishou in this because I'd feel bad renaming him) comes to America (still New York =P) until whenever I end up stopping it due to lack of interest on my part or that of whoever will actually read it. Going by the manga timeline, I figured Ryou would be born around 1985, and I'm starting the fanfic in 1970. The 80's is full of great music, but the 70's are a little harder for me. So far I have "Your Song" for 1970 and "Time in a Bottle" for 1973. =) Anyway, I'll definitely be learning while I write this. I'm just stuck because I'm not sure what kind of a person Ilan is. Well, in this he is a stock broker. I'm obviously influenced by the news, huh?
ellana: (Default)
Utau survived Ike. She's on her way. Let's make her a little picket sign to celebrate.

Started watching Stratos 4 Advance (it's really short). Ahaha... Iwasaki is amazing. I'm totally going to make a Iwasaki x Kisaragi button for my other journal... eventually. (They're in my icon.)

Work today was stressful and I ate way too much. Ah... but those were good doughnuts. *^*
ellana: (Dancing Queen)
So I was "sick" again this morning until lunch. I didn't have Chinese food this time, so I'm not sure why I felt so bad, but it was pretty horrible. I almost asked to leave.

Well, there was not much to do, but I got my main real estate page done as much as I possibly could. I/we left early every day this week... eeh. e-e;

My sticker/stationery furoku came but nothing else has. e-e; And this I ordered most recently. Anyway, the stationery is too cute. The envelope and pages are styled like teabags/teabag packaging. It's supposed to be "Extra Quality Sweet Strawberry Tea". Lawl, go figure. I know we joke about strawberry cake, but apparently Ichigo actually makes strawberry tea. Let's all get our facts straight from now on. /joke

Tomorrow I'm going to an art show with my mom and to another used bookstore. Maybe I can finish "I, Coriander" tonight so I can start "Singer" over the weekend. I also need to record this weekend. Ran, Miwa, Masha... lots of screeching. Yeah.
ellana: (Ryou Clock)
Oh gee, what to say?

Life is so dead right now, and though I managed to crank out that one-shot and a (rushed) review of "Koi Cupid" volume 01, not a lot is going on worth mentioning.

Things are about the same at my job and I basically spend my free time stalking auctions, reading, watching anime or occasionally TV (like Travel, History, Animal Planet, Discovery...), listening to music, or drawing. The last of which I've decided needs some research and experimentation. Well... I experimented with a new skin tone and lets just say it was a disaster. DO NOT ASK ME THE NAME OF THE POOR SOUL WHO SUFFERED MOST HORRIBLY FROM THIS MISTAKE(! DX) Sloppy coloring is sloppy. And I've experimented with watercolor paper too which is hard to ink on. I don't know.

Work and life is same. Life is boring, work is either dead or I'm given a bunch of stuff to keep me busy that I don't get too excited about, but I'm experimenting with ads too (more cautiously).

I got (and read already) Shinkuro 7 (for real this time) and Kitchen Princess 5. See? Im starting to catch up, and it might be soon because that cliff is going to bug me for ages. Need to snatch up half-priced volumes 2 and 3 of Pixie Pop on my way home from work next week too.

On a side note, does anyone know of any musical artists or seiyuu whose music I might like? Um, lately I've been listening to Cascada. I also like Within Temptation a bit. recently I realized I have a lot of Avril Lavigne songs, too (how did this happen?? I don't really like her as a person, but apparently a lot of her songs are catchy and/or fit what I'm looking for). Generally I like pop/rock music and nothing too heavy, and the language doesn't matter. I like ballads and upbeat music. I'm not picky, really, although I don't like music with lots of cursing and I'm not a big fan of rap music. Favorite seiyuu include Katsuyuki Konishi, Nana Mizuki, Shoko Nakagawa, etc.
ellana: (Decus)
Work today sucked.
If one could die of boredom... I'd be there three times over. Yes, it was that bad. I sat there for hours doing NOTHING... all day I did maybe three or four ads, and nothing hard. I woulda been happy to get evil real estate back than sitting there half-asleep.

But I saw a hummingbird this morning before I left. That was the coolest thing that happened all freaking day. ._.;; (In my nature-loving opinion; I'm never the one to spot them.)

The second coolest being some Hispanic dude pulling up beside me at the stoplight blaring Spanish music. It wasn't just normal Spanish music either, it was "cheesy-I-dunno-what-exactly-it-was" Spanish music. =DD (Probably just means it's more cultural and not influenced by American pop music like a lot of music in this world is.) I forced myself to keep a straight face so I wouldn't insult him. =3 It was amusing.
