So apparently I have some sort of critter in the attic over my room. D=
They only move around at night. They were making a sort of whistling noise at one point, and they shuffle around and make a low blowing noise sometimes, but they don't sound a thing like the birds we have in our chimney every spring/summer, so I do not think it's a bird. I think either bats or mice, since a) I had a bat in my room once and b) sounds more like the mice sounds from college than anything. Hope it's at least something cute like a little chipmunk. =/

I'm especially freaked because I have no idea WHAT it is or HOW on God's green earth they got in there in the first place. And I'm worried if they got that far, they can get into my room/the house because I'm over the garage and I have unfinished storage areas on either side of me. It wouldn't be hard to do.

It's really funny, though, because my parents were all "lol, you're being paranoid, nothing's up there" but I took Jake into my room on two different nights and his ears pricked up and he was staring up at the ceiling and sat down at the very edge of my bed all stiff-like, like he was on guard duty. He gets bored after a while, though, because the usual noises aren't very loud - similar to wind or light rain on the roof. (We get a lot of animals walking around on the roof around 10-11AM too.)

Does nature love me or what?
I love you too, just please, STAY OUTSIDE AND LEAVE ME ALONE.

The mystery is solved.
I have a colony of bats "hanging out" outside my room between the bricks and the insulation where there's a crevice just big enough for them. We have like these holes up there with wire mesh/grating/whatever to keep animals from getting it.

Anyway, after my dad knocked down three stink bugs from the attic and tried to convince me there was no nest and the birds were flying around outside, I insisted no, and we kept hearing stuff, so he sprayed bugspray and got the bats all mad and good lord they were all around in those air holes on the outside of the wire. There were a ton of them. My mom and I ran outside and saw three fly off, and after we went in, Dad saw about three more.

SEE? I'M NOT CRAZY! MY HEARING TOTALLY PWNS YOU ALL! Jake was the only one who believed me.

And I am so proud of myself. I thought it was birds, bats, or mice, and after ruling birds out due to the noises they were making, I was pretty sure that frequencied squeaking was bats, so I basically figured it out first... sort of. It was my second choice, okay? I actually thought we had mice at first.

It's really no surprise, though, since I see them flying around all the time, and this also sheds some light as to how the bat that got in some years ago actually made it.
